Businesses were sourced from the Downtown Moncton Centre-ville Inc. public directory. National chains, businesses without websites, and civic listings were excluded so the benchmark reflects local independent businesses.

1,632 ChatGPT questions were asked across 196 unique prompts. Questions were matched to each business's category and pinned to Moncton at the city level.
Each business received approximately 6 questions. Questions were not averaged across multiple runs. This study used ChatGPT (OpenAI) on October 5, 2026.
The directory had no categories, so category groups were inferred from business names. Three hotels were all named; that group sits inside Other because it is below the five-business minimum. Chain hotels (Delta Beauséjour, Residence Inn, Crowne Plaza) appeared in hotel answers but were not scored.
